Best Practices:
Best Practices
When the dumpster is on your driveway there are a couple of things we recommend you do:
-
If it rains, monitor the water that comes out of the dumpster. They are not watertight, so water will leak out of the front or back, depending on the slope of your driveway. Sometimes the water will be rusty (it is a big steel box). Take your hose and rinse down the area where the water leaks out, you should not have any issues with staining. If you forget to do this, do not worry. The rust stains will come off. It will just take a little more effort to do so. Rust stains are not permanent.
-
Along those same lines, no liquids are allowed in the roll-off dumpster. This includes paint, gas, solvent, etc. The dumpster is not watertight and they will leak out onto your driveway. Additionally, the state considers these items hazardous and we are not allowed to transport them.
-
Place all loose items on the bottom, or secure them in trash bags. Dumpster transportation speeds on the highway are 65mph. Papers and leaves on the top layer will blow out.
-
Keep the dumpster below the fill line. It is the law that nothing can be over the top edge. If the dumpster is overfilled we are unable to remove it from your property until it is leveled off.
Winter Practices
Midwest winters are unpredictable. Here are a few things to help make your rental easier:
-
The driveway must be cleared of ice and snow. Commercial dumpster trucks do not work like 4×4’s or standard cars. Even a thin layer of snow ensures a high probability that our truck will slide off the driveway and either become stuck or possibly damage something, especially on sloped surfaces.
-
In the event we are not confident of the weather allowing us to pick up the dumpster, you will not be charged additional.
-
We may request a picture of the drop off/pick up location to help us determine if the conditions are suitable for our trucks.
-
Please trust we will do everything we can to accommodate your request, but safety is our highest priority.
